6th edition primer questionerie 20120823

Now we have a cadence to the questionnaire and for last question's answer I must inform you that the rules are different, the facing no longer crosses the vehicle's hull. how will that affect the facing of vehicles that can see the top of a vehicle still eludes me but rest assured that an answer will be posted here more sooner than later (crosses fingers).

and now for today's question:
you have finally cornered your opponent's last flamer equipped scoring unit with an small unit of yours sadly it is extremely allergic to fire and you pre-measured to know if you could assault it, but alas it is a big risk since you need an 11 to do it, so instead of that, you spot a wall that you will use for cover while your next turn arrives, you are relaxed because  he will advancing to get  there since is the objective to win the game and he wont arrive in his next turn allowing you time to win the game. you carefully move your unit to allow a next turn massacre for his unit and are calm because the wall will cover your unit from fire since he wont see your models nothing can harm them, but when his turn arrives  your opponent moves and in the shooting phase he declares that is shooting to your unit with his because he can see 1 model from yours, for nothing is bad  due to the new allocation rules that will prevent  damage to anything but that poor misplaced fella. Right then  he start wounding your full unit because it is under the flamer template, you see that and stop it saying that he can only wound the model he sees because the wall protect the rest of the unit and once again proceed to grab the rule book to show him the error of his ways.

What will you find about that and where?

6th edition primer questionary 20120819

As a means to learning to play 6th edition, I plan to post some questions here and see what we can learn from this, so without further ado here is the first question:

You are playing a heated game and you can secure victory if you use one of the psychic attacks from your warlock (librarian or you choose what sounds better for you)  he is secure inside one of your transports right now, and the power you use is INFERNO that is a witchfire attack, you successfully roll on perils of the warp and start assigning damage only to be interrupted by your opponent that claims you are doing something invalid, after a heated exchange of ... words, you scream that he will pay because on the rule book it says you are allowed and head to grab it. What will you find and in witch page?

Are you correct or is your partner, what you think? lets see your answers before I post the next question and the answer to today's riddle.

BTW in the creation of today's question I can attest that one rule book was damaged and nearly lost half of page 65-66 due to my arm resting on the page and adhering to the glossy material of it.
AAHHHHHHHHHHH......

My Basing method step by step part Two

Hello Im Back with the final part of my basing method, in this tutorial it is done using large flying bases but it works the same with any kind of base and size.

If we recapitulate a bit, in the previous installment we had 7 bases fresh from the sand gluing process. I left them be for a few hours to let the glue settle and compress, meanwhile we can start preparing the materials for the this part:

Bits:
Here you can use whatever you like like plastic tubes or pieces cut as you like. here you can see I selected some plastic bits, some guitar string and some left over pieces.

Paints
for the paints you need black primer, and depending on what you need an assortment of colors to match your desired setting like browns for scorched earth and normal earth, grays for city debris, and greens for an alien setting.  then depending on the bits you selected other colors to do the pieces the proper treatment.
since I want some scorched earth and my bases has lots of little stones then I selects browns and greys along with off-white colors like bleached bone and Deneb stone, I included some metals for the details, but along the process other colors not present here were added.

Brushes.
for the kind of paint I will use old brushes because the terrain can be hard on them.
You can see here that I use different sizes that is because today's bases are big as I already said.

with that covered the firs step is to add the Bits with super glue that wasn't listed but it will do its duty here, just because it is fast to fix.
You don't need to use everything you got for the bases, remember you don't want to do overcrowded bases. once everything is glued you can prime black, why black would do you ask, because the bases benefit of the dark colors a black base will give you.

you can see here that the bases are taking a good form so we start with the proper dry brush first in my case scorched brown, and will keep using lighter colors along the way, like bestial brown, vomit brown, earth brown and bleached bone. remember that here the gradient of the color is the important thing to do no the names or if they are GW or not, remember to do the rocks in a grey tone. When it is done you can do the details as you see fit, here I painted the metal parts tin bitz, Boltgun Metal, chain mail all of them dry brushed. then I did certain metals dwarf bronze and even applied a bit of ogre wash, and ended the details painting the helmets

here I can give you too much detail because it will depend on the details you end up using.
one last look at the end results with models and a last parting word:

as you can see from the last picture you can add a final detail to your bases like I do, and that is to paint the edge, I do as a color code for my armies, all Ultramarines use Goblin green, orks snakebite leather and my tau use White. That is optional and you can decide but for me I think they look better like that.

With that I close the tutorial, hoping it is if good use to you and wanting to hear from you, until the next tutorial I wish the best.

Ramping up the power on the tabletop

OK last week I posted my cpu fan turned into part of a power plant for our games, and then I said that the cpu cooler was next, well it is here look at it:
this time I added some more bits to stile it into a Gothic 40k power station, I only need to do an altar for it to be properly done but I think it works now here are more pictures including the cursory wip ones.

what do you think of it?

A Little fun with objective markers

image

I’ve been playing with the hardcover rulebook since it got into my hands. So I found that lovely picture of an objective marker I had to do with a twist, so after doing it I came with the need foe additional markers, now I have one for each army plus an Ork ambush marker.

Next Sunday Game.

Since next sunday is the last time I will be able to play in march here are the particulars here.
First I finally find out mi game helpers from 3 edition and they look not too much outdated for 5 edition.  just a few updates here and there

There are 4 of this beauties and they will improve our gaming time.

Next the point limit will be 750 so we can play 2-3 games instead of one. I accept suggestion on what should be used but most of it will be from my limited collection.

Also I want to share a little something that I know will interest at least one person that reads my blog, and it is my 2 miniatures the Warlock and my Falcon, they have never been used in a game but that could change soon enough.

Until next time.
