Work on my Second AOBR Captain

Back in the day I got 2 AoBR boxes one of which I never managed to build lest say paint, mostly because it was a pain to decide how to convert the bits of the captain, sergeant and warbozz to have non repeated options, the first was the sergeant to whom I just clipped the head and placed a helmet as I'm more comfortable with those rather than heads. after a long time searching for inspiration I landed on "In The Grim Cheapness of the Future..." blog where the answer was awaiting me, following his advice I simply set to work and managed the following result:

As I didn't have a Shield that was big enough I simply used the back carapace of a tyranid warrior glued to a wood elf plus a scroll and an Imperial Aquila to have a shield and for the hammer I clipped the sword tip and clued the remaining bit of an ork weapon plus the controller box of a hunter missile from the Rhino box to simulate a Thunder Hammer. What do you think it looks the part?

Scratchbuilt looted wagon part two

I have kept the progress and even if I still need to add the turret in a detachable form or another, my innermost mekboy is pretty happy with how it is turning out. For the turret i plan on a open top one but that will complicate the work a lot so  i hope to do it properly.

An scratchbuilt Ork looted wagon challenge

I have been thinking of adding a  battlewagon or two to my Ork army, but funds are non existent right now, however plastic is at my disposal and my mek heart was pulsating with tinkering energies and from all that and after giving the Ork Tanks at ForgeWorld a nice lovingly look , I couldnt refrain anymore and thus I began:

first the Images to inspire me

then I began with a Rhino like hull that I planned to attach a tread system, it would be enclosed as I don't have that many parts to do an open one and that decided the form of the vehicle to be enclosed

I modeled a door on the rear part and some exhausts
 then a cabin
and then went crazy building the treads like 36 ones to be precise
Then I used some plastic studs and glued them against each other to help me create the frame for the tracks.

and currently I have finished to glue the basic shape

it is turning into a great looking tank, I just nee to decide If I need a turret for that S8 weapon or a Transport with a slight better armor.

If it turns ok I might decide to do a tracked Battlewagon or two as those would definitively help my Orks to be really mobile just like I like them.

Testing my Tau XV25 Paint Schema

My desk has seen a good progress with my TAU to the point that now I have  two small fire warrior , one path finder, one crisis and some Kroot squads, plus my FW HQ and piranha, but the last 3 days my mind has been stumped with the XV25 unit, it has to bee different, but how?

surfing around I found two pictures, one with a quartered schema and other with an activating camouflage, I like them both but I was unsure with the second one, due to my personal abilities as an artist.

So today I painted one of them to test the schema here are the pictures but be warned that is a picture heavy post

Resuming work on the long lost Ork Fighta

After more than a year after committing to the challenge I finally resumed work on my Ork Fighta, What I did this week was to add some guitar strings  a cockpit and reimagined the wings.

As you can see time  has taken its toll since one of the rear wings is missing

the missing vertical control surface will see a serious revamping once I decided on the general shape, for the cockpit I went simple and just glued an space marine console and a Ork torso with arms, posed everything together  and glued the cockpit to the main fuselage.

 IMG_20120408_200106IMG_20120408_200059IMG_20120408_195936IMG_20120408_195911IMG_20120408_195906IMG_20120408_195905IMG_20120408_195853

here is the work I did on the wings, so far is just 3 plastic sheets sandwiched to get a more robust surface that sadly it still needs some pieces to make it work.

here is the underside where you can see the area I reserved for the landing gear

What do you think?

Im throwing the guanlet here in Guatemala.

OK. I have been out  of the hobby front for work reasons and  want to play  a lot, so I'm throwing the gauntlet to Hellboy and Reingard can you both send me the list of an army below or equal battle-force points that you can field painted by Sunday 12.

Since we are currently 3 players each other 2 times and helps to referee at least 2 games.
  • If I recall correctly we can field 500pts from a battle force so I will allow that as main army and up to 250 points as sideboard.
  • All games will be objective based with 5 objectives per game and tabling is allowed.
  • Points are  3 for wining 1 for a tie and 0 for losing .
  • The referee has to annotate how many objectives has a player captured.
  • Is allowed to play a different army per round played, if you have them.

I have one eldar warlock and  one tyranid warrior that I plan to offer to the player that wins more games and he takes home  his choice of miniature.

In the event that a  tie is outstanding at the end we can do one of the following:
  • If time permits a 250 points game is played following the kill team rules in the battle missions book, winner takes the prize home.
  • If not enough time then we sum the captured objectives to determine winner.
Ok that is, if you have a suggestion to do I'm all ears. And if you like it a lot the idea we can do more of  that to get more things in the table.

Update: I corrected some grammar for better reading.

This week update

Today, Hellboy and I got together to play a bit, since he wanted to play with his Tyranids but he had so few we decided to play Kill Team fro the battle mission book. We managed to cram 2 games at 250pts in 1 hour plus  another 20 minutes for table setups, overall a great afternoon.  Hellboy won 1 and the I other.

From the game I got inspiration for a challenge to Hellboy, I have in my posesion 3 tyranid Warriors that could end up being better in the hands of him so I challenged hin to the following:
I will sell him the tyranids a retail price (they are already assembled and painted) If he keeps his armies as they are
A 10$ discount if all his minis are black primed by next week
another $10 discount if in 2 weeks all have the bone carapace painted
and if they have a base color in their skin on top of all of the previous then the warriors  are free.

I hope Hellboy manages to achieve the challenge
here are today's pictures:

So far until next time.

Ork Fighta challenge wip 4

Hello, I'm here again , I came home early at 6pm and decided that I needed to work on the Ork Fighta was in order. so I started to cut some rivets (TEDIOUS WORK) and then glued them until I considered them to be completed.
the I cut the wings so there where some flaps, doing that I got carried away and did some damage to the plastic.
you can see that i decided to add a little detail on the area where the flaps are located, then I decided that the tail was too simple  and proceeded to add a vertical flap
finally I worked on the landing gear and since it is a ork vehicle it comes to reason that it must be really simple, but it still needs something to look finished so here it is.
I think that overall the model is coming along well. next time  i will try to weaponize the model.

Ork Fighta challenge wip 3

Ok today I decided to continue working on the Ork Fight, so I took a plastic sheet to create the wings.

where is the fighta looking better with them

I added some tubing to reinforce the wing union.

I also added a burna boys tank to the right side of the fighta. an a mekboy banner to the top.

then I started to cut some rivets

and then I proceeded to glue them and it is starting to look great.

Overall the fighta is looking great and I hope that is finished  soon.
