Other remembrance of battle past

Tomorrow I will have a battle day with as many 2000 battles I can squeeze in the 8 hour day as possible but first I wanted to share few pictures of the battles I played the last time I had a battle day.

the first battle was against tyranids I lost that battle but it was good one, it was hard to say which way it will take until the last turn when the numeric superiority of MC helped a lot.

The following battle was against necrons, lucky for my my opponent used the tomb blades to try to eliminate my too individual broadsides they were close but separated units and that mean that a lot of his shot even if hit the mark didn't damaged as much as expected, that meant that he lost a 5 model unit in the retaliatory fire, pretty good shooting, next his HQ was fired upon by the Overcharged Riptide to great effect. it was a really fast game but good too.

The last game I lost it because my previous dice didn't helped a lot against Chaos, also I let my opponent to place a bastion with a Quad gun that really tipped the balance in his favor but I liked the game a lot.

Lets see how tomorrow's play out. I will try to take as many pictures. that is the last time I use my tau before receiving my second Riptide, im already drooling with the possibilities.... until next time.

WIP on my Space Hulk Brood Lord

Maybe this year I finally do them

Sponsoring the hobby.

In our local group we have so far advanced a lot, last year I was alone blogging about my personal journey collecting GW miniatures and now we are 3 players(Ashi is on California advancing his studies, and glenn hasn’t joined “hint”, “hint” )  that makes me happy but  and both Reingard and Hellboy have some minis that are lacking in the painting area, So I decided that some kind of action is in order to help them have painted armies that they are proud to play, for that I have some options but what i want is to encourage them to advance their hobby skills and that is something I want for the general benefit of the group..

With that in mind  I came up with the idea  to sponsor them to have fully painted armies sooner rather than later, so first turn is for Hellboy’s  Tyranid battle force that currently is  mostly unassembled except for one or two gaunts.

my first step in the sponsor program was to explain him how to do some batch painting and also issuing  him a challenge  that will grant his army 3 tyranid warriors and their swarm

the current conditions to get them are full price or:

  • black coat all his minis and get an initial $10 discount
  • Paint all bone parts and get another 10$  discount.
  • Paint a base coat for the skin parts and get and get $10 a further discount.
  • do all of the abode and get them free.

So if he plays his cards right he can end up with  a  nice looking army.

If that doesn't works then I will need to come up with something to entice him.

If you are still with me then I want to seed you with the idea to sponsor those new to the hobby , it doesn't has to be paint related it can be tactics or strategy or better yet all of the them. it will help us all in the end.

Next one is reingard that also has been a bit slow with his armies.

This week update

Today, Hellboy and I got together to play a bit, since he wanted to play with his Tyranids but he had so few we decided to play Kill Team fro the battle mission book. We managed to cram 2 games at 250pts in 1 hour plus  another 20 minutes for table setups, overall a great afternoon.  Hellboy won 1 and the I other.

From the game I got inspiration for a challenge to Hellboy, I have in my posesion 3 tyranid Warriors that could end up being better in the hands of him so I challenged hin to the following:
I will sell him the tyranids a retail price (they are already assembled and painted) If he keeps his armies as they are
A 10$ discount if all his minis are black primed by next week
another $10 discount if in 2 weeks all have the bone carapace painted
and if they have a base color in their skin on top of all of the previous then the warriors  are free.

I hope Hellboy manages to achieve the challenge
here are today's pictures:

So far until next time.

Making models part of my armies

To answer Ron's Question about how we unify the models in our armies  I took a look at my models and came with the following:

Colors:
First long ago I decided that I wanted my orks to have red somewhere, for some it is red pants for others red shirts, to complement red I mostly use 3 main colors a shade of white, Yellow and brown as can be seen in my Big Mek

here are some other examples of unity by color pallet:
Finishing tidiness and feel:
Next it is unity by style where I paint my Space Mirnes as mostly fresh of the factory while my orks are not so tidy.

Bases:
The other part that I use to create unity is base style

For my Genestealers it is a metallic color and deck style  for my orks it is brown and earth style while for my Ultramarines it is green base with grass style in all the bases whenever possible.

while lately I been experimenting with coding the troop type with glyphs in my orks as can be seen here:

so those are it is my thoughts on how to create unity in a sea of chaos painting  to accomplish the following:

Bug bitten 4

O.K. I have met a temporary roadblock and I need your help, my genestealers are advancing but after some consideration I decided to take one and change a bit the color schema before I m too deep in the squad.

here I have some pictures of2 genestealers, one with black body and the other with mid night blue.

with the camera flash the blue came out too much clear, it is darker

witch one do you think is better?

Bug bitten 3

Hello, Its me again, I just didnt work a lot the last few day but at least today I keep working with some genestealers. so far i have only aplied 2 reds and 1 brown.
Problem is that I want to change the black for some midnight blue and I haven't buy the idea yet but I will try with one and if I think is OK it might be the new schema.
I hope to finish soon. for the parts needed to keep the helichopa conversion are already at Florida. so it might take some few days to arrive.

Bug bitten part 2

OK after an encouraging commentary from flekkzo, I will keep doing the bases before all the genestealer are ready.

So after all the bases were glued to the plastic net, I removed the bases with an Xacto the primed black, and added what bits i tought could be used to partially represent an abandoned ship.
after that I painted what I could.
