WIP on my Space Hulk Brood Lord
Maybe this year I finally do them
Finally a Space Hulk update
Ok after procrastinating on my Space hulk models I finally decided to do some painting on my models, sadly all references on how to paint them are few and far between. but progress is undaunted. so here I present them to you
The chalice also received his paint love quota but since it is a smaller mini it is already fully painted.
till next time.
Life goes on
Ok, after my heart broke with the the chipping paint on my TAU minis, I have done a lot of work in real life, and so little work on my hobby one.
Currently I'm learning how to paint power weapons in a new easy to use way, I found about at YouTube at Catafish channel, is just a lot to like, I used a variant for the color because I really wanted that my weapons used a color that Is more compatible, so instead of using blue hues I choose red ones, for those interested here are some pictures so you can decide if it is worth a try.
btw definitely is way better not to use the flash when using close up (middle pic).
A Picture post

My space hulk door bases
for the schema I decided for a worn look that i panted as follows:
- Black undercoat.
- Tin bitz dry brush as base coat.
- Boltgun metal dry brush, here I tried to cover all but leaving the tin bitz color showing.
- A layer of dry brushed Chainmail but not too much just a bit and mainly concentrated in the center.
- A final layer of mithril silver but most of it in the center along the way where entities pass,
- A fine lining of dwarf bronze in the outline of the steps.
- Then dark sun yellow in the vertical wall of the steps.
- next I tried with tape strips to paint the black bands but it was all for naught, so free hand and a not so steady hand were my choices, ahh and also I used the small dry brush from GW as base to try the strips to be the same size I just used the side of the tip to have a consistent size (with out success)
- Finally I used the wonderful Devlan Mud wash.
What I been up to lately.
Hello, I been really busy with work, so I haven’t got my painting time, don’t even mention play time, so when I got a few minutes yesterday I decided to work on my space hulk minis that have lingered for the longest of time. currently I'm working on the librarian I needs a lot of work yet but it is finally approaching table top quality.
For the axe I'm using some washes to achieve a diferent finish with the power weapon so far it is looking good, also you can see I have tried something different with the face as I used a green wash to make it look as If it is using his powers
With the red robe I'm happy how it looks, in the pictures barely notes but it has a nice highlight,
Besides the librarian I also worked on the gates so far my work is missing the hazard strips since my first attempt doesn’t look anywhere near a good job.
and finally
since Im unable to play more often and i got a great bargain i got a copy of the old expansion for THQ WH40k game,so my first box dint sit alone in the library:
now I can play necrons on the cheap.
till next time, when I hope that the terminator is close to being finished.
this week works
Aside from him I created a second objective, an energy station or something like that i like how it looks.
so far I think it is going to be until next week.
Today's Work.
Next I grabbed my old Maernus Calgar and applied some blue wash, it enhanced the looks of him, next I changed the yellow decoration to a golden one. I think he looks way better
Next in order was my old space Captain in Terminator Armour just added blue wash
Next was my Ork nob with waggg banner that needed a new base so I did a new base for him.
Making models part of my armies
Colors:
First long ago I decided that I wanted my orks to have red somewhere, for some it is red pants for others red shirts, to complement red I mostly use 3 main colors a shade of white, Yellow and brown as can be seen in my Big Mek
here are some other examples of unity by color pallet:
Finishing tidiness and feel:
Next it is unity by style where I paint my Space Mirnes as mostly fresh of the factory while my orks are not so tidy.
Bases:
The other part that I use to create unity is base style
For my Genestealers it is a metallic color and deck style for my orks it is brown and earth style while for my Ultramarines it is green base with grass style in all the bases whenever possible.
while lately I been experimenting with coding the troop type with glyphs in my orks as can be seen here:
so those are it is my thoughts on how to create unity in a sea of chaos painting to accomplish the following:
