2013 Tournamet has passed away with a Blast
I left the pictures after the break:
Initial clashes at PL3-40
My revered master I bring you dire news…
we received reports from different patrols that on 20120218 some forces converged at pl3-40 a recently rediscovered planet with valuable resources and at the same time very apt to sustain life, so apt that when the first Space marine landed they found a recently hatched menace from the Tyranids, since no further reports where received a nearby Ultramarine frigate let an small
from radio chatter received it has been gleaned that the Blood Angels encountered some kind of alien menace
So far everything is calm but we suspect that is but the prelude to something more sinister, we already hear that some vile eldar are in the vicinity of the system, and my fears are that as soon as we can send on obit skull probe we might find evidence of more forces preparing to make a stand on that planet, we hope to have an elaborated map for the next meting my lord.
No I depart until that fateful time comes my liege.
Showtime weekend
This weekend I was invited to the IPMS (our country plastic modelers assoc.) convention by one of the sponsors of the event to help show hellboy’s and my minis how cool warhammer is to the public.
Overall is the first time my minis get that much light and is gratifying to hear good compliments on my minis.
I got invited by the association to participate next November that pleases me a lot and will work on one or two models to my best.
here are some pictures on how my minis were displayed.
finally I have some Vallejo paints at hand I will get some as my GW ones deplete and here are some pictures of the conventions participating models
My Plans on the long term for the hobby.
With the new year I’m beginning to form plans, as you might know here in Guatemala we are few and are lacking an identity, I want to fix it and to start it my first idea is to have a motto an I like:
“The few, the hobbyists”
I wont lie it is a clear reference to the U.S. Marines Corp motto and the fact that currently we are no more than 6 players (Glenn I'm counting you). Next after that I will create a nice image as other communities in the “From the Warp” Network have done before.
The goal is to grow and strengthen the nascent community in Guatemala. (I just hope to find the other group that secretly plays).
That is for the group identity, but there are also plans for the group, like the aborted plan to organize a mini end of the year mini tournament. that is going to be a feature that I will try to do quarterly one tournament that helps us learn faster the rules (yes we are so slow) but that also help us to have fun.
Last but not least I feel that now that we have so many armies (Space Marines, Orks, Eldar, Tyranid, Tau and Chaos) a campaign is in order, the idea is that regular play will advance the narrative at a steady pace but the mini-tournaments will focus on important events of it.
I will publish the camping details next week all I can say right now is that it will be started with a mini tournament that will set the initial stage of the sector.
Till next time.
Sponsoring the hobby.
In our local group we have so far advanced a lot, last year I was alone blogging about my personal journey collecting GW miniatures and now we are 3 players(Ashi is on California advancing his studies, and glenn hasn’t joined “hint”, “hint” ) that makes me happy but and both Reingard and Hellboy have some minis that are lacking in the painting area, So I decided that some kind of action is in order to help them have painted armies that they are proud to play, for that I have some options but what i want is to encourage them to advance their hobby skills and that is something I want for the general benefit of the group..
With that in mind I came up with the idea to sponsor them to have fully painted armies sooner rather than later, so first turn is for Hellboy’s Tyranid battle force that currently is mostly unassembled except for one or two gaunts.
my first step in the sponsor program was to explain him how to do some batch painting and also issuing him a challenge that will grant his army 3 tyranid warriors and their swarm
the current conditions to get them are full price or:
- black coat all his minis and get an initial $10 discount
- Paint all bone parts and get another 10$ discount.
- Paint a base coat for the skin parts and get and get $10 a further discount.
- do all of the abode and get them free.
So if he plays his cards right he can end up with a nice looking army.
If that doesn't works then I will need to come up with something to entice him.
If you are still with me then I want to seed you with the idea to sponsor those new to the hobby , it doesn't has to be paint related it can be tactics or strategy or better yet all of the them. it will help us all in the end.
Next one is reingard that also has been a bit slow with his armies.
Holy Week -- Semana Santa
this is a procession and it is one of the ones that are done at la Antigua you can see the effort in the detail for the "Anda" they are usually heavy and many persons are required to take it around the route, some processions needs even exceed the 100 men per side.
The most important ones take place friday night when christ is mourned.
and for every single procession a lot of carpets are hand-made here is an example:
It is very common that more than a procession passes by the same streets so you see a lot of people rushing to create new carpets after a procession has passed where another is going to pass.
I hope you don't mind a post that removed from my usual theme but I thought that you would like to know a bit more about my country and its traditions.
The hobby is spreading in Guatemala
He is a great painter and even the few current pictures posted show it.
If you are interested you can visit him at: Ashi's Miniatures
I hope that is just the beginning of a strong Warhammer network in Guatemala.
Reingard I hope you take the hint.
