Relic Knights Calico Kate

Today I assembled the Nebula Corsairs Kalico Kate Relic, I think is the only one Relic that deserves to be magnetized,  but only if you use the mounted Calico, here Is What I did:

First step, build the main body, glue Calico and with a hand drill make holes to attach the magnets

as seen I used the model on bits to place the magnets and avoid the rotation of the magnetized models next with the dremel I carefully drilled a hole on the arms conectors

and glued the magnets using smaller magnets to have the polarity on all the pieces correctly set up, no one wants to have an incorrect  once I did that the arms remained on place. here are some pics of it.

what do you think? was it too much?

My New Found love XWING

Hi, I been really hush lately, but you will learn why here, so I was minding my own business in December when my Brother send me a box of unused but loved games, I opened it and there it was Netruner (discarded to better loving place by now), Mage Wars and LO AND BEHOLD a Star Wars Core Box, I don’t recall any more, I have been playing and my love for it has been growing, so much as my Warmachine friends might say, currently I have the bare minimal 2 core sets, one tie advanced, B-wing- Y-wing, YT-3000, Extra x-wing and Imperial Aces,
but two events have made me come out, the first one of the friends the one that has been promoting the game in fact got a nasty surprise as his X-wing was damaged on a demo game and without him knowing badly really badly fixed, to the point where the peg plug was broken from the ship when trying to remove one of the pegs,

So I decided to help him, and this is the result:

first the broken ship

next the first tool on the arsenal to have it restored:

a pre-hole has been drilled on the peg usual spot. it will serve me as a guide
now to a bi more to the size of the magnets to use
A word of advice here: when dry testing be sure to only use one mgnet, that way if you cant tajke the magnets out at least you dont end up like me
with  two magnets instead of th recesed one I was planning
now for the damaged peg plug
as it was already shaved I just glued a low profile magnet:

and now we have  ship that can be used again:

I hope te owner is happy when he receives his ship, next time I will post of ow I modified my B-Wing. until then.

My second Riptide is in the oven.

Hi, I been slowly working on my recently received riptide, so far I have taken some bad pictures of some of the magnets that I been using. right now I have two questions to solve, what pose do I want? And should I do the cabin a la Dave Tailor? the last one is the more difficult to do as I'm no modeler by any stretch of the imagination but the challenge is alluring, ohh, what should I do, meanwhile for the first question I have partially answered as I decided to have a right arm shield and a left arm cannon. today I will  do more work as I'm planning on the base, (I do my bases separately of the models and always are army themed).

lets see the pictures then:

Building the Cataclism

As I said in the previous post, I eagerly built my Riptide (or Cataclism in spanish.)  my toughs on it is that is a very carefully designed model, It has one pose by default but it doesn't prevent it from being a highly posable model, you just need to remove some carefully placed pins that are part of the plastic, and for those in the modification camp, I have the observation that you need to magnetize some pieces that are cosmetic to the design of the main weapons

Doing some work on a XV81 part 3

Recently I got my hands on a Forge World Tau xv81 Crisis Suit, after looking all the parts I couldn’t resist and decided That some magnets should be used because to me the arms screamed for them.
But first when working with resin you got to be really careful with the dust that can be released, here you will see that even when I just used a hobby knife the dust appears in various pictures. THIS DUST IS DANGEROUS, use a mask to avoid breathing it.
After the last post we should be with something like the following picture that has been around since the first post on the series.
IMG_20120413_185641IMG_20120413_181259

Today we well cover the arms and start by getting a magnet and we make sure there is a big enough hole for the magnet
IMG_20120413_192817

IMG_20120413_192744when it is big enough I put the magnet  with some glueIMG_20120413_192631
next there is the turn of the weapons by drilling a magnetically aligned small magnet as you can see here
IMG_20120413_190232
after that  there is jut s matter of finishing the model.

and you have something like that:
IMG_20120413_200804IMG_20120413_201319
I just scrapped a hole  where I could mount the mini in a flying base, what do you think?

After completing the model I can say you that the Forge World arms are so much easier to magnetize and swap weapons, I’m still struggling to have strong attachment on the regular models and here is easy cake.
I hope you liked the series and I want to hear from you.
